The Omen 17 also received new display options, including a 120Hz 1080p G-Sync panel, a UHD 60Hz G-Sync screen, or 60Hz 1080p with AMD FreeSync (for AMD GPUs). The Omen 17 is more robust, offering up to Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX580 graphics The Omen 15 can be equipped with up to an AMD Radeon RX550 2GB GDDR5 graphics card, or up to an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060, a claim HP said is made possible thanks to Nvidia’s Max-Q design. The Omen 15 and 17 both feature up to an Intel Core i7-7700HQ and up to 32GB of DDR4 memory. Omen Gaming Notebooks have also been updated with new CPUs, GPUs, and displays. Omen by HP Accelerator will be available in August starting at $300. There’s also four USB 3.0 ports, in addition to an connection for networking. If your device supports charging via USB-C, you won’t need to connect the notebook’s power adapter to keep your laptop or Ultrabook from using the battery. The PSU also provides 60W of power back to a connected PC via the USB 3.1 Type-C cable.
Overall connectivity includes four USB 3.0 ports and a single USB 3.1 port, plus a RJ45 GbE LAN port. Plus you get 60W of power via Type-C port for charging. The Accelerator connects over 3.1 USB-C Thunderbolt 3 and offers single cable docking.
Alternately buyers will be able to purchase a near-empty box with just the PSU. The Omen by HP Accelerator is docking station and comes pre-configured with either an AMD or Nvidia graphics card and a 2.5-inch 1TB hard drive or 256GB solid state drive, along with a 500W power supply. Starting this year with CES, things seem to be changing at HP when it comes to gaming! This week they announced a refreshed lineup of Omen products, including an external graphics docking station. We here at ToT always they would have done more with their Voodoo PC acquisition from last decade. HP Omen gaming products have been solid but haven’t came out on regular recycle.
